There's a "Boss Lady" Inside

Every Mom

I am the Boss Lady Mom! I'm a business owner, wife, and mother. I’ve been running a successful dance studio for over a decade now, and before I became an entrepreneur, I danced professionally for the NBA and did customer resolution, copy-writing, and database marketing for two Fortune 500 travel companies. I have two toddlers, and being a mom is the most important job I’ve ever had. My family and I live a crazy entrepreneurial lifestyle — my husband is a world-champion breakdancer who has traveled all around the globe for dance, our work schedule changes almost every week, and I manage 10 employees at my studio! I have the “Type A Yoga Girl” personality (I was literally hired to play this role for a branding campaign for an insurance company, LOL) but have learned how to find balance amongst the chaos. I hope to inspire other exhausted moms to keep pursuing their dreams!

Today is the final day of World Breastfeeding Week, and I wanted to share a little bit about my breastfeeding experience.

With my first baby, I breastfed for 15 months. I really hated it in the beginning and was shocked at how time-consuming it was. I felt enslaved to m...

Dearest Keanu,

When the sun rises tomorrow morning, you’ll be one year old. The past 365 days went faster than any other year of my life. Between you and your wild sister, each day has blurred into the next, filled with milestones, missteps, and memories. Our family has...

As I reflect back on this year, there’s a lot to take in. One of my goals at the beginning of the year was to write more, which I did, but I took a pause on my blog at the end of May. As I hit about 10 weeks postpartum, I was deep in a rut I felt stuck in. Postpartum d...

Things are getting better. At least it seems like it… Baby boy is stretching out his feeds and sleeping a little bit more, our daughter is a little more interested in him and a little less emotional, I’m no longer sick or in pain and am regaining my physical strength,...

So yes, I’m that crazy mom that loves planning parties. I was always the lead socialite of my peer group, organizing wine tasting parties, throwing birthday parties, looking for any excuse to have a rooftop BBQ, surprising my parents with a joint 60th birthday party, a...

Can a mom catch a break? If you’ve been following my journey from the start, then you know that I left the hospital with a virus after giving birth, and then my daughter caught it and then my newborn son. Sickness plus emotional turmoil from a toddler, coupled with sle...

Does anyone ever get used to getting five to six hours of sleep in one to two-hour increments? I wish I was one of those superhumans that didn't need sleep, but I'm a walking Mombie. It's true what they say, that your brain can't function when you don't get the rest yo...

April 18, 2019

A couple of days ago I took my first bath since laboring in the hot tub at the hospital, which was a surreal experience. As I dipped my toes into the warm water, a flood of emotions and anxiety came rushing back to me. I had to consciously remind myself that I wasn’t p...

Caring for a newborn baby is tough; lack of sleep, lots of diapers, nursing on demand, and still healing from childbirth. Caring for a newborn baby while you’re wearing a medical mask because you’re sick with a cough and congestion is even tougher. Caring for a newborn...

April 2, 2019

My sister-in-law and nephew came to visit the night we came home from the hospital, and my daughter was in high spirits. She was eager to show them her baby brother and proceeded to put on a show of her own, dancing, singing, laughing, pulling out every single toy and...
